The teams have been given time till January 22 to complete the recruitment process – a maximum of three players with not more than one overseas player. “They have time till 5 pm on January 22 to complete their signings,” said a BCCI official confirming the letter to the newcomers.

Lucknow IPL Team Players: The good news from Lucknow camp is that deal with KL Rahul as captain of the team is final. But the bad news is that team’s efforts to get Rashid Khan on board has failed.

  • KL Rahul finalized as captain of the team
  • Rashid Khan not signing with Lucknow
  • Lucknow team’s overseas player will either be Kagiso Rabada or Marcus Stoinis
  • Ravi Bishnoi targetted as team’s 2nd domestic signing

Ahmedabad IPL Team Players: They are little slow off the block due to delay in sanctioning of the team by the BCCI. But the good part is, like Lucknow they have a skipper on board in Hardik Pandya. Another good news coming in from the Ahmedabad camp is that team is having good discussion to sign Rashid Khan as their overseas player.

  • Hardik Pandya almost final as captain of the team
  • Deal with Rashid Khan ‘work in progress’
  • Ishan Kishan & Krunal Pandya also in consideration.

How much Lucknow, Ahmedabad have to shell out from their player-purse? As per the general advisory, the new teams will forfeit Rs 33 crore (Rs 15 crore, Rs 11 crore and Rs 7 crore being the stipulated fee slab for the players) if they sign three capped players.

The amount the team forfeits will be Rs 24 crore (Rs 14 crore and Rs 10 crore for two players) and only Rs 14 crore for one player.

An uncapped player would cost them only Rs 4 crore, as much as for the eight original teams who had the right to sign a maximum of four players.

The new teams, however, cannot sign more than one uncapped player and they are permitted to pay more than the stipulated fee on the condition that they would lose that much money from the salary cap of Rs 90 crore.
