AB de Villiers announced his retirement ahead of IPL 2022 Auction after an illustrious stint in the Indian Premier League. But as per reports, Virat Kohli, who stepped down as RCB captain this year, requested the franchise to bring AB de Villiers back in a coaching capacity. De Villiers had been with RCB since IPL 2011. An announcement could be made on March 12.

Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore are all set to name Faf du Plessis as new captain for IPL 2022. The RCB has called for a press conference on March 12 at 4 PM for the same. With Virat Kohli stepping down as captain after IPL 2021, the post has been left vacant. Glenn Maxwell was favourite to be named replacement but RCB have decided to go with Du Plessis.

While RCB were all set to announce the name on March 8, they have now decided to delay the announcement. In a tweet, the franchise has stated that they will be celebrating fourteen years of the team on 12th March at the Museum Cross Road in Church Street.
