- But Ben Stokes pushed for bowlers to be recalled after becoming captain

Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad made an absolute mockery of the selectors’ decision to drop them for England’s Test series against West Indies.
The veteran bowlers made an incredible start at Lord’s against New Zealand on the first Test of the summer and fans lapped up their return.
Anderson found the edge of the bat in a brilliant opening spell with the new ball, removing both openers Will Young and Tom Latham.
Jonny Bairstow took both catches and the first in particular was spectacular before he pouched the second after it bounced off his hands.
Broad then added the third wicket of the day when the dangerous Andrew Conway nicked off to Bairstow who made it three from three in the slips.
