Lucknow Super Giants have one of the strongest batting units on paper, however barring KL Rahul and to some extent Quinton de Kock, the other batters have failed to put up a big show with the bat. Against Punjab Kings in the last game, their batters failed collectively and managed to post only 153/8, despite successfully defending the tareget they need to find the right combination.

  • In the last game, Deepak Hooda batted at No.3 and Krunal Pandya, who is known to bat lower down the order came in to play at No.4.
  • It was a move that failed miserably as he was out after just scoring 7 runs. They need a good batter to hold the batting order after the openers and Evin Lewis can be best suited for this.
  • The West Indian played a match-winning knock against CSK earlier this season scoring 55 runs off 23 balls.
  • Despite managing to score just 16 runs in the next three matches he might be given a look in the upcoming contest.

Who can Evin Lewis replace?

With bowlers like Avesh Khan, Dushmanta Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi, Krunal Pandya and Mohsin Khan, who can fully bowl their quota of four overs and also having part-timers like Marcus Stoinis and Deepak Hooda in their ranks, Lewis can replace fellow West Indian Jason Holder.

  • Holder has picked up nine wickets in seven matches but his economy rate has been a concern. Against Rajasthan Royals earlier this season, he conceded more than 50 runs.
  • His economy rate after playing seven matches is 8.68. With Lucknow, clearly looking like a team playing with a batter short, Holder has to make way for Lewis.
  • If not Holder, the other option is Marcus Stoinis. The Australian largely played as a batter but in the last two matches he managed just a single run. In five matches, he has scored just 73 runs.
