Dani Ceballos has urged Piers Morgan to be patient after an angry tweet blasting the club’s decision to sell Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Arsenal lost 3-0 against Crystal Palace on Monday night in a massive blow to the Gunners’ top-four hopes.

In the wake of the defeat, Morgan said letting striker Aubameyang go was a huge error given Alexandre Lacazette’s struggles up front.

Manager Mikel Arteta said after the loss: ‘This is a moment now to challenge each other, to help each other and to believe again’.

In response, Morgan had tweeted: ‘This is actually a moment when Arsenal fans need to accept Arteta made a massive season-wrecking mistake in giving away Aubameyang & relying on Lacazette to lead the line. I said it would come back to haunt us – and it is.’

The north London side allowed former captain Aubameyang to leave on a free transfer in January to Barcelona after a disciplinary breach saw him fall out of favour with Arteta.

The Gabonese striker has started brilliantly for the LaLiga side, with nine goals in his first 12 games in all competitions for Xavi’s team.

Lacazette has only scored once in the league since Aubameyang’s departure, while back-up forward Eddie Nketiah has not scored in the Premier League this season.

But Real Madrid midfielder Ceballos, who spent two years on loan at Arsenal, responded urging Morgan to be patient.

He posted: ‘Friend let him (Arteta) work, is very top. He will also take Arsenal to where it deserves to be. Patience,’ followed by a love-heart emoji.
