Liverpool run out of time to sign Fulham wonderkid Fabio Carvalho on deadline day despite agreeing £5m fee, as Neco Williams joins Cottagers on loan for the rest of the season
- Liverpool wanted to sign Fulham’s 19-year-old young midfielder Fabio Carvalho
- The Reds were negotiating a £5m deal but run out of time to make the deal
- Jurgen Klopp’s side can return for him in the summer when his contract runs out
- Meanwhile, Reds star Neco Williams has sealed a loan move to Craven Cottage
Liverpool have run out of time in their efforts to complete the signing of Fabio Carvalho from Fulham and Jurgen Klopp’s squad may have to wait until the summer to sign the highly-rated talent.
Sportsmail revealed on Sunday that the Reds were negotiating a £5million move for the highly-rated 19-year-old, who has just six months left on his contract at the Championship club.
Liverpool made an offer for the attacking midfielder though Fulham remained determined to keep hold of Carvalho after head coach Marco Silva publicly ruling out his imminent departure last week.

The Cottagers have landed Liverpool right-back and Wales star Neco Williams on loan too
But the Reds ran out of time to complete a deal with Fulham, with the Cottagers reportedly putting in a mandatory clause to loan the teenager back to the club for the rest of the season in their negotiations.
Klopp’s side could return for Carvalho in the summer but they run the risk of a European club putting in a pre-contract offer for the midfielder with the Merseyside club unable to put in an offer themselves.
Carvalho, meanwhile, has been in top form for Championship leaders Fulham – who top the second tier by five points – scoring seven goals and registering four assists this term.

If a compromise can be reached now, that would avoid losing the midfielder for a compensation fee in the summer and Liverpool will fend off fierce competition.
Carvalho has been at Fulham since he was 14 but has decided against signing a new deal.
Liverpool signed Carvalho’s former youth team-mate Harvey Elliott from Fulham in 2019, in a deal that required a tribunal with Liverpool ordered to pay an initial fee of £1.2m for the then 16-year-old with add-ons to £4.3 million. Fulham had initially wanted closer to £10m.
Liverpool sold Harry Wilson to Fulham for a fee rising to £12m last year but under the terms of that deal, Liverpool agreed to wait until this year for the first instalment to help Fulham navigate FFP protocols.
Meanwhile, the Cottagers have confirmed the signing of Liverpool right back Neco Williams on loan until the end of the season, with Silva’s side pushing for promotion back to the Premier League.
