Man United: Thierry Henry insists the players need to deliver regardless of who the coach is

‘When is it going to be about the players?’: Thierry Henry SLAMS Man United’s flops as he insists they need to deliver regardless of who the manager is… after they found fault with ‘teacher’ Van Gaal, ‘dictator’ Mourinho and ‘dad’ Solskjaer

  • Manchester United struggled to a draw against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday
  • The result was their third stalemate in their last five games in all competitions
  • The arrival of Ralf Rangnick has failed to turn around the Red Devils’ season
  • Tensions in the dressing room are said to be high and the boss has lost support
  • But Thierry Henry claimed United players need to deliver whoever the boss is

Thierry Henry has slammed Manchester United’s players as he insisted they needed to step up and stop blaming the club’s managers.

United took on Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their last-16 clash on Wednesday evening but could only scrape a 1-1 draw, relying on teenager Anthony Elanga to rescue them with a late equaliser.

The Red Devils’ struggles have been well-documented this season with results failing to improve under interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

The German was brought in to turn the Red Devils’ season around following the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but United have endured another series of disappointing results and he is said to have lost the support of the squad’s ‘leading heavyweights’.

But Arsenal legend Henry insisted that the squad needed to stop turning against their coaches as he accused them of having an issue with every one of the club’s recent managers.

‘I don’t like usually to have a go at players but you had a teacher like Louis van Gaal, who is successful,’ Henry said via CBS

He also claimed the players did not like the direct manner of 'dictator' Jose Mourinho (pictured)

‘They called Mourinho ‘Dictator’ because he was too much into this, too much into that. He was too direct with the players. They players didn’t like it.

‘Suddenly you have a friend. They like Solskjaer because he was more of a dad, a nice guy.’

Henry further questioned why the players were not delivering as he insisted they have to step up at a club like United.

‘When is it going to be the players,’ he asked. ‘When is it going to be about the players? They have to deliver.

‘I’m not a Man United fan but when you play for Man United you have to deliver regardless of who the coach is.

‘It cannot always be the coach. I’m sorry those guys need to perform and start to understand where they are.’
