Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has claimed he will be at Anfield next season ‘for sure’ amid doubts over his future – and insists he is ‘motivated through the roof’ to get revenge on Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Salah’s contract is set to expire at the end of next season and his team have had difficulties agreeing a new deal with the club – reportedly turning down a contract worth around £400,000-a-year.

The Egyptian star has enjoyed a sensational season – sharing the golden boot award with Son Heung-min after firing in 23 goals – and his incredible displays have already led the Reds to Carabao Cup and FA Cup success this season as they hunt the treble against Real Madrid this weekend.

And Salah moved to remove any immediate doubts about his future ahead of the crucial game as he pledge his commitment to Liverpool next term and said his full focus was getting his hands on Europe’s grand prize.

‘I’m staying next season, that’s for sure,’ he told the media. ‘I’m staying next season. I am only thinking about winning the Champions League and I want to see Hendo [Jordan Henderson] lifting the trophy again.’

Liverpool have a score to settle with Los Blancos after they were swept aside by them in the 2018 final, losing 3-1 in a game that saw Salah go off injured in the first half of the game.

Salah described it as the lowest moment of his career and said he was ‘motivated through the roof to recify it.

‘I am very motivated,’ he added. ‘After what happened with Madrid last time and after what happened on Sunday everyone is motivated to win the Champions League. Everybody is excited for it.

‘[The 2018 final] was the worst moment of my career. I was really down. The worst thing that could happen to any football player.

‘I’ve never had that feeling before in football.’

Salah’s will be a free agent in 2023 as things stand and his future has been the subject of considerable speculation in recent months, but the issue is not something he wants to discuss ahead of this weekend’s showpiece.

The Egyptian said: ‘In my mind I don’t focus on the contract at the moment. I don’t want to be selfish.’
