Paddy Pimblett compares scenes outside stadium after Champions League final to movie ‘The Purge’

UFC star Paddy Pimblett has compared the terrifying scenes outside of the Champions League final in Paris similar to the film ‘The Purge’.

The 2013 American film is based on an annual event where all crime is legal and emergency services are temporarily suspended for one night.

Pimblett, known as ‘Paddy the Baddy’, believes they experienced something very similar before and after the Reds 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid to miss out on the European crown on Saturday evening.

Video footage has emerged of fans being crushed and mugged by local youths, with eye-witness accounts saying the gangs numbered around 1,000.

Many supporters were attacked with tear-gas and pepper-spray before and after the game, while police also did nothing to help Liverpool and Real fans who were subjected to muggings and knife attacks by local youths.

Instead, the French authorities and football’s governing body UEFA continue to blame the travelling Liverpool fans for struggling to get into the ground on fake tickets, calling it a ‘massive fraud at an industrial level’.

The French Football Federation (FFF) waded in with claims of their own, insisting that 35,000 people without tickets or with false tickets went to the Stade de France for the Champions League final.

The UFC star has, however, revealed exactly what he experience after attending the final as a fan.

He took to Instagram to tell his followers: ‘It was seeing people with machetes just running around, I’ve been saying this for the last few days. The only thing I can compare this to is something like the purge.

‘The movie the Purge is where you can do what you want for 12 hours, that’s what it was like. That’s what I feel it was like the Purge. There was no laws for 12 hours.’

French interior minister Gerald Darmanin continues to say Liverpool fans were responsible for the disorder that erupted, in which Pimblett has fired back.

‘Lies, complete and utter lies and he should resign from his job because he is disgusting and despicable.

‘It’s an easy scapegoat to use Liverpool fans. A steward when I walked in with my ticket that I got off Liverpool football club.

‘The steward tried to tell me my ticket was fake, he put his pen on it and said that’s fake. I called him out straight away, I said it’s not fake I got it off the club, what are you talking about and he went oh yes, ok and give me it back.

‘I think they must have done that to scare other people, took the ticket, then sold it on to someone else.

‘Took tickets off people saying they were false tickets when they wasn’t. It happened to Andy Robertson’s friend, I’ve never heard anything like it. Andrew Robertson, they kept his friends ticket and he didn’t get in.’

Pimblett was also left baffled by the accusations of 35,000 to 40,000 fake tickets

‘I don’t get how someone could get 40,000 tickets made within three weeks, who is making these fake tickets.

‘Someone just going ahh tickets, it doesn’t work like that. You’ve got to print them and get them done.

‘You’ve then got to sell them, just putting them on social media you’re not going to sell 40,000 tickets.

‘You’d have to have a proper website set up and all that. It’s illegal, you can’t do that.

‘It’s illegal and they get arrested for it, but what politicians do everyday is they lie, cheat and rob the public, but it’s ok.’

The 27-year-old admitted that leaving the ground after the match was even worse than the scenes beforehand that saw the match delayed due to police tear gassing fans outside the ground.

‘When we came out of that ground there was groups of 30 men running round in packs, some of them had weapons, some had machettes, knives, bars and bats. You just had to try get away from the ground.

‘People were getting pinned to the floor and i saw a few people getting man bags took off them, where they’ve run over pulled the man bag and sliced what was round them and run away with the bag.

‘Even before the game I saw a few tickets getting snatched and stuff like that. People running away with tickets.

‘As I say it was outside the ground after it when it was the worst. Obviously getting in was bad with the police tear gassing everyone.’
