BBL 2021: Sydney Sixers beat Melbourne Stars: Defending champions Sydney Sixers kicked off their BBL campaign in style as they registered 152 runs win over Melbourne Stars –  the biggest-ever win in BBL history in terms of runs – on Sunday in the opener. Follow InsideSport.in for more updates

The 11th edition of Big Bash League (BBL) kicked off on Sunday. While an exciting thriller was expected to take place, it turned out to be a one-sided affair with Sydney Sixers completely dominating Melbourne Stars.

BBL 2021: Sydney Sixers beat Melbourne Stars

Put into bat, Sydney Sixers posted a massive total of 213/4 on the back of explosive knocks from both the openers – J Phillipe (83 off 47) & J Vince (44 off 29). The duo added 90 runs for the opening wicket before skipper M Henriques joined in and slammed an unbeaten 76 off 38 to get the total past 200-run mark. For Stars, Brody Couch was the pick of the bowler as he returned with 2 wickets.

In reply, Stars had one of the worst starts and were two down in the very first over. By the end of the powerplay, Melbourne Stars’ scorecard read 41/5. Barring Peter Nevil (18) and Hilton Cartwright (10) none of the batters managed to reach in double figures and eventually folded up at 61 runs.
