IND vs NZ ODI: One of the most significant recent developments in the Indian cricket team involves Suryakumar Yadav. The meteoric rise of the No.1 ranked Indian star batter in T20Is is nothing sort of inspiring and ridiculous at the same time. But after conquering the international T20 circuit the big question surrounding SKY is whether he is primed for the ODI spotlight or not. With Sanju Samson and Deepak Hooda hot on the heels of SKY ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, pressure will be on for the Mumbai-born batter. Surya’s next goal should be to lead India to ODI World Cup glory after making a statement in T20I cricket. The three-match ODI series against New Zealand will serve as the first step in this month’s major tournament preparations.
India now has a reliable number 4 in the middle order in Surya, which will give the batting order stability.
But Surya will face stiff competition for the spot from Sanju Samson and Deepak Hooda.
Unlike T20Is, Surya’s record in ODIs has been pretty average.
The 32-year-old has so far participated in 13 One Day Internationals for India and has amassed 340 runs at an average of 34.
In ODIs, he will need to make a few adjustments to his strategy in contrast to T20Is, where he is expected to attack the bowlers right away.
SKY recent form in T20Is: Seemingly not content with the 239 runs he scored during the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, Yadav was dismissed just once and finished as the leading run-scorer during India’s recent T20I series in New Zealand with a total of 124 runs. Yadav smashed a brilliant unbeaten 111 during the second match of that series in Mount Maunganui.
Sanju Samson Record in ODIs
After making his ODI debut in 2021, there was another year-long gap before he played in his next ODI. He was part of a series in the West Indies in which he scored 54 runs in the second game.
Samson was also named in India’s One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against Zimbabwe. In the second ODI against Zimbabwe, he scored an unbeaten 43 and took three catches, and was declared the man of the match.
Deepak Hooda Record in ODIs
Hooda was included in the Indian One Day International (ODI) team for their home series against the West Indies in January 2022. In the first game of the same series, he played his first ODI against the West Indies.
